Geometric is a system of discovering truths and hidden meaning behind words using the numerical values for each letter of the alphabet. Each letter corresponds to different numbers. Then the numerical values of words are totaled and interpreted. The magicians of ancient Babylon in the 8th century B.C. began this method and has been used by the Magi and Quabala. Notarikon is a form of geometria in which the first and last letters of a phrase or word are put together to make a new word or to make a word into a phrase. Temurah is a type of geometria that makes anagrams through systematic letter substitutions. As you can see there are many varied and distinct types of numerology.
I’m sure you’ve all heard of the Pythagorean Theorem. Well Pythagoras was an ancient greek who founded a school on his own teachings. He was the founder of numerology. He discovered the numerical ratios which determine the concordant intervals of the musical scale. They used these different pitches and believed that the human body was strung off of these few pitches adding to the mix, hot and cold, wet and dry. His doctrine was that everything was in numbers, which can be verified with many computer programmers today.
In reference to the individual, numerology can be the study of magical meanings of numbers and their supposed influence on human life. Supposedly the method can be used to obtain information about one’s personality, capabilities, and future. Numerological considerations include an individual’s full name, birthplace, and birth date.
