Society and the psychics.
The way people with psychic abilities have been viewed by society has changed dramatically over the years.
Many are still not convinced that there is such thing as people who possess psychic powers, while others refuse to get out bed in the morning before consulting with their personal psychic or the horoscope in the newspaper. It is said that many people will not make a business decision until they contact a psychic for their advice, it would also appear they trust a psychic more than their own education and intuition.
In the earlier centuries persons who gave predictions that came true were considered to be witches and put to death.
Psychics have been around since the 1st Century and today they have lucrative businesses and even write newspaper columns on a daily basis. Some psychics have the ability to heal (both the mind and body) of those who believed in their psychic abilities.
More and more law enforcement agencies have felt the need to seek help from psychics when all their efforts have failed in resolving a crime. Unashamedly they have sought out local psychics that have come highly recommended by law enforcement in other cities or states that have found them to be helpful in solving crimes. Thankfully, it seems law enforcement agencies overcome their timidity when it comes to getting help with unsolved crimes.
The world is more accepting of one who can foretell the future or have some sort of psychic phenomenon these days, because Hollywood has brought into our homes with recent TV crime shows that use detective physics. In the late 70’s it was the shows like “Bewitched” and “I Dream of Jeanie” that had us all twitching our noses and crossing our arms in hopes of generating some psychic energy, that we could get the housework done in an instant. Leaving many housewives quite disappointed when the housework was still to be done manually
Children, from a young age, play psychic games. There are video games such as “Psychic Stunt Wagon” and movies such as “Harry Potter” that encourage social acceptance of supernatural powers. There are some parents that restrict their children in this type of game play, but due to its popularity, it is an uphill battle.
Psychics have embedded themselves into main stream society by having 800 numbers to call at all hours of the day or night for a reading; they make cameo appearances to sell their latest books; and have store fronts in almost every town. There is no end to the promotion of these physic abilities anymore (as at one time you were thought to be crazy by society if you mentioned the word “physic” in public). The verdict is still out and society continues to be divided as to whether it is a good or bad thing that psychics have been more publically accepted.
